Have you been itching to try Minecraft in VR? You can now play Minecraft on Gear VR-compatible Samsung phones: the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, Note5, S6 and S6 edge. Essentially, you just have to slot your Samsung phone into the Gear VR headset, and you get one whole Minecraft world, all 3D-virtual-reality-like! Sweet.

Minecraft for the Oculus Rift is still coming, but to make things simple, Mojang has released another version on the Oculus Store, just for use with the Gear VR. It is, for all intents and purposes, identical to Pocket Edition; it costs the same, and has cross-platform play with regular Pocket and Windows 10 editions. Having a Bluetooth-compatible controller is a must.

If you have the Samsung S6 or S7, the screen resolution is evidently pretty good, so you won’t be easily distracted by the pixels. Older phone models might not run the game quite as well in true stereo or with as high a draw distance, but the ability to experience VR with just your phone might override that completely. It's a pretty crazy experience.

As with all new technology, read up on the safety information to make sure it's up your alley. You should always take regular breaks, as longer sessions can make some players feel nauseous or get eye fatigue. Mojang has made loads of tiny tweaks to bring Minecraft to VR, like letting you turn the camera in snappy increments. It is definitely unusual, but quickly feels normal and is a lot easier on the brain. It makes sense when you actually do it, promise!

Parkour challenges are nothing new in the world of Minecraft. (As a personal note, they are one of my favorite things!) Still, keeping them fresh is a challenging prospect. Other than making a course harder to navigate, how much more can you really do to a parkour course to change it up? As it turns out, quite a lot.

Pathfinder 2 adds an entirely new direction to the usual "hop blocks" approach to parkour, by turning it into a surprisingly challenging memory game. Study the floor in the room you start in, then navigate the following room using the same pattern. Step on the wrong plate, and you get sent all the way back to the beginning! While aggravating at times, it is strangely satisfying to complete rooms in this puzzler.

Downloads for the map can be found in the video description. Enjoy!

Physics in Minecraft have always been limited. Other than sand, gravel, water, and lava, gravity largely has no effect on blocks, and never has. In some ways, this can be frustrating, and amusing in others (such as with floating structures). What would happen if all blocks respected basic physics and gravity? Animator ultek gives us a look right here! Enjoy.

First we assumed one pre-release for Minecraft 1.9.3 would be all we need to ensure a stable update. And then we had to release a second pre-release the next week to fix the remaining issues. And, because the third times a charm, here is the third Minecraft 1.9.3 pre-release.

If everything works out as planned, we will release the update to Minecraft 1.9.3 early next week. Of course I shouldnt have mentioned that, because now Im just asking for something else to come up and delay it.

Notable changes:

  • Changed some changes that we made in 1.9.3 pre-release 2

  • Fixed a potential crash with spreading water or lava

  • Added 0.17% more cowbell

Minecraft on consoles are unquestionably popular. What is also popular on consoles? Skin Packs. So, what if Mojang were to combine the two, what would you get? Minecraft: XBOX One Edition Favorites Pack, of course! The bundle includes Minecraft: XBOX One Edition itself, as well as the following packs:

  • Battle and Beasts Skin Pack

  • Battle and Beasts 2 Skin Pack

  • Natural Texture Pack

  • Halo Mash-up

All of these come with the game, and require no separate purchase. Neat! Have you seen The X-Files? Even if you haven't, there's a very good chance you have heard the show's theme song (lovingly called "The Illuminati Song" on the internet in many places). Following the fine tradition of re-creating songs using Minecraft blocks, grande1899 has reconstructed this piece using spoons! Just kidding, it's note blocks. Nonetheless, it is a very solid rendition of the song. Enjoy!

Hello!

Weve launched the new Minecraft.net! Minecraft.net 2.0, if you will.

The new site has all the features you might be used to, but its prettier and faster. It also scales better on phones, tablets, and neon-lit-ugly-rigs with their monster monitors. Remember that, like everything Mojang, were going to be iterating upon this thing for the foreseeable future.

Though were very happy to launch Minecraft.net 2.0, its worth mentioning that Minecraft.net 3.0 is already in the works! That site will focus on exciting things happening in our community and provide deeper insight into the future of Minecraft and our developers. Our plan is to make Minecraft.net into a place that every player would like to visit once in a while, no matter which platform they play on - somewhere to represent what our game has become over the past few years.

But thats some time in the future. For now, enjoy the new stylin!

Have a lovely day, internet!

Have you heard? Were working on bringing Realms to Pocket Edition and Windows 10! If you missed that news, you may also have missed that weve been running a free alpha to test how Realms works on Android.

Well over 700,000 of you signed up to help us kick its tyres since we launched last month. To those people: thank you so much! Its been incredible to see the enthusiasm and support youve shown for the game. You guys are rad.

To the people who havent yet tried the alpha: its okay, we think youre pretty rad too. But if you want to be even radder, you have until tomorrow to sign up. Then youll have the entire weekend to muck around and make awesome stuff before we shut down the alpha on Monday.

Get crackin!

Hello!

You might not know this, but we have some of the hottest data analysts in the world working at Mojang. And theyve been crunching the numbers. After months of hard graft, theyve managed to calculate precisely which add-on packs have sold most on the Xbox One console.

Armed with this hot data, weve decided to bundle the top seven packs with Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and sell the resulting package for $29.99 (or equivalent) in stores across the world. We have named this bundle the Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Favorites Pack.

The Minecraft: Xbox One Edition Favorites pack will be available in-stores on June 7th in Australia and New Zealand, and on June 21st in the rest of the world. It includes:

  • Minecraft: Xbox One Edition

  • Battle and Beasts Skin Pack

  • Battle and Beasts 2 Skin Pack

  • Natural Texture Pack

  • City Texture Pack

  • Fantasy Texture Pack

  • Festive Mash-up

  • Halo Mash-up

Thats over 120 skins and 5 texture packs. Two mash-up packs are also included - they feature tweaked UI and some fresh in-game tunes. Thats more than enough to spice up your Minecraft experience. I recommend the Favorites Pack to anyone who enjoys playing excellent video games on the Xbox One.

Have a fantastic day, everyone!
